*2019 in Review*

What a year 2019 has been. As far as the birth side of my life — it was AMAZING. I witnessed so many raw and incredible moments where women were so strong. I am so grateful for the bright light that is this career.

I’m not the best with words but I hope each and every single one of my past, current and future clients know how much they mean to me and how much they influence my life. Most of this year I spent on call with the exception of November, which I took off for my sister’s wedding. My entire family and sister’s wedding party scheduled trips around due dates and births. I’ve missed birthdays, holidays and school functions. I spent a few sleepless nights with mamas laboring. I’ve slept in really uncomfortable places and squeezed my way into the weirdest of places to get the photos each mama has wanted — to document the moment their life changed forever. Births where I wasn’t sure if would get there in time and births I wondered if I was going to early…. Hospital rooms, bathrooms, bedrooms, livingrooms, tiny homes, kitchens, hallways and operating rooms — I’ve documents pieces of stories and whole stories. And each one has changed me into a better photographer — a better birth worker — and has given me a renewed respect for women.

2019 was a year of firsts — and lasts. I’ve revised my contract and made some changed to my business practices to better serve my clients and myself. And I can’t wait to be there for my 2020 families documenting each step of their journey. — their pregnancies, births and postpartum life along with all the milestones of their baby’s first year of life.. If ever I’ve been sure of anything, it’s that this career was meant for me.

These are a few photos of my favorite moments of 2019.

& 2020.. I can’t wait for you. I can’t wait to see the babies you’ll bring and the mother’s you’ll make.
